A few years ago I stopped blogging. While I don’t consider myself much of a writer I do feel I have something to contribute – you will determine that by whether you sign up to receive these each time I post something or by commenting on them. Let me start by telling you about my friend Dan. Dan is on a cruise and he signs up for a drink plan that he figures if he has at least 7 alcohol drinks per day he breaks even. While for some that is a worthy goal my guess is that for most of you it would mean numbness for the entire week and lots of sleep but I dare to say not a lot of enjoyment – at least to me. So far he is keeping pace.
The moral of the story – just because you have a goal does not mean it is the right one or one without unintended consequences like putting on weight from all that sitting around for example. If your goal is one that involves others many would think that a more logical choice to start.
Two books come to mind:
The Dip by Seth Godin
The Go Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann
The Dip because you need to know when it is time to pivot – sometimes dramatically and the Go Giver because I believe if your center is all about “YOU” you have nowhere to go but if you are more thinking about others the universe responds accordingly and you will be rewarded.
Too heavy for my first post – I will lighten up with the next one.
Your thoughts on the post? I am open to a conversation and I know how to listen.
